Ralphs grocery used to have "Ralphs Club" which gave you a discount on items, frequently taking several dollars off the cost of groceries. Usually was about 7-10% savings.

They just scrapped that in favor of "Ralphs Rewards", which gives you a 1% rebate on a quarterly basis. That right, 1%. Used to be for $500 in groceries, you would get an immediate discount of $50-80. Now for every $500 spent, they will mail you a rebate for $5.

They are trying to disguise how little it is by giving you "points" but if you look at the paperwork, 500 points gets you $5. That means it is worth exactly one penny.

Supposedly the discount benefits are not going away, but I imagine there will be a lot less of them, in favor of the new 1% rebate!
